BALUCHISTAN’S SOVEREIGNTY & THE EMERGING EMPIRE – II

by Ahmad Marri

To ravage, to slaughter, to usurp under false titles, they call empire; and where they make a desert, they call it peace”
(Publius Tacitus)

In my preceding article, Baluchistan’s Sovereignty & the Emerging Empire Part-I, I intended to determine the basic fundamental structure of the emerging empire within the 21st century, and its relevance to the vast rich land of Balochistan. To begin with, one should not submerge him/herself in fog in-order to comprehend the instinct of the emerging empire. Empire is plighted by simple facts: there is world order. It will not only manage a territory of a particular organism, but its tenants – seeking to rile directly over human nature and its rightful birth ownership. This form of empire wields with enormous power of destruction, bloodbath and repression. Whereas, the concept of empire, that has been and will be in the future - portrayed as dedicated peace. In other words, a pure sense of deception will empower the sovereignty and the characteristics of any particular nation-state.

The critical task that is meant to be argued here is not only to ‘hold the lines’ of this dominant feature of devastation. The process of re-defining and re-organizing the tentacles of the emerging world power towards new ends by means of innovation and compelling forces are aspects of great importance. Such constructive forces of the multitude that endures empire are potentially equal to the task of autonomously formulating a counter-empire. Few political organizations of global exchanges contesting to undermine the powerful empire in-general already exist – seeking to enhance the voice for liberty through the jungle of ‘autocracy’ and ‘totalitarianism.’ Such new struggles have already began to surface in the existing world order, coming forth from various democratic, republic and oppressed nations – constituting a unique puissance, which will one day bypass the iron fist of the oppressive empire beyond its own intellection.

The global situation is diversifying at a solid pace and without a doubt Balochistan stands mid-centre. Recently, I had attended a briefing on Indian Sub-continents’ political and security risk analysis. The guest speaker presiding consultants, Dr Robert Bradnock a senior research fellow at Kings College London spoke regarding a number of political and security related issues in South Asia. To my surprise, the expert mentioned Baluchistan’s national movement and its correlation with India. He was very passive on this matter - stating that it is not entirely in India’s interest to witness a destabilise Pakistan. What I found most interesting is to hear about the volatile region from a passive debater. It provided me with a sense of belief that maybe things are not what they seem to be. I could be terribly wrong though. It provoked me to ask myself queries that I never had to dispute with. Nevertheless, my belief and inner-conscious regarding the emerging empire and its repercussions on sovereign states and on polity institutions were and are very much standing firm. As Senior Bush said in 1992, “it is not only our state that is at stake, but an idea, a New World Order.” A single non-polar government that is meant to govern the entire globe, not by the hands of the sole influential super power that we were exposed too, antecedent to the contemporary times which is pushing third world nations to question themselves over unprecedented issues. The gradual systematic approach which is amusing the global village toward a game-plan with magnificent state of the art military, economical and the most lethal, media might. A band of creatures that will imply intense oppression on free nations, whom by their mindset have the [audacity] to speak of their rights, customs and demand their unification amongst states whom they could ideally correlate with.

Recently, there are various debates that are surfacing within the resistance movement of oppression itself. The political jurisdiction of Balochistan including both, nationalist and pro-Pakistani parties are seemingly dwelling on a route of bewilderment. I will not weary my energy by elaborating the political governing faction in Balochistan that are being dictated by elements whom are mindful of their atrocities. What goes around comes around, and that is precisely what the governing class in Pakistan is currently undergoing. Suicide bombings have just become a minor part of intense catastrophes the state is confronting. Injustice and mayhem which were implied on Baluchistan’s general patriot public have lead to none relating repercussions in the form of economical and political downturn within the so called Islamic State of Pakistan. Nevertheless, what hurts the most in the volatile environment is the suffocation of the unprivileged class, whom are being targeted the most. Maybe that is why the civil factors are raising their voice and illuminating their thoughts and voice over the tragedies and resentment applied on the Baluch people. The question remains, is it to late to do so! Well, all I know is that Baluchi are being picked and targeted like cattle of sheep’s constantly being eagle eyed by a group of hyenas.

Time is ripe and so are international, regional and sub-regional impressions. A column in the British based Guardian newspaper by two feature writers, Jon Henley and Ed Pilkington reported that few countries protect the right of workers in order to affiliate themselves to a trade union, but in other dominant states, union-busting is a lucrative business so that aggressive union consultancies are increasingly at work. This example is a productive statement to comprehend with the ‘divide and rule’ strategy since ancient times to split and pull apart the glory of identity. This is what is at stake for Baluch and Balochistan! Stakeholders who can do a lot for their people are also indulged in such tactics, but it is ok! It is a cross border disease and has become very much rare like many other elevated advances. One man wants to believe in God, the other in Lucifer. One is an extremist and those who lay their critics are moderates. On regional Baluchi terms, one Baluch indicates one chief, the other says in a different language, No, I am not referring to this particular chief; I am speaking with reference to my chief.

The deep presence of internal boycott amongst our own masses has made it merely impossible to revive back into our self- conscious. Amendments for tolerance and selfless are fundamental rays, which will guide the people to their glory, yet with further more constraint to follow. Within the extensive decades of crises of the socialist, communist and liberal regimes, a big quantum of critical thought, both in powerful states and in the subordinated ones; re-composition of resistance are indentified on the social and identity subjects. National and regional groups that are often grounded as Michael Hardt stated, the localization of struggles. Such dialectics are often constructed in terms of ‘place-based’ movements. Hertz and his co-worker Antonio Negri, both political theorists also suggested that the contemporary class oppression is the force within the intense globalization era holds the potential of sparking social change of unprecedented dimension. However, the central problem lies within the dichotomy between global and local, local and sub-local and carries on implying its mechanism within the mutual ethnic society. Empire may have put an end to colonialism and imperialism in numerous manner only by constructing its own relationship of [power] based on exploitation of post colonialism which are in many regards more destructive then those it destroyed.
